Authentic Adire textile is created through a process of indigo resist-dyeing that involves creating a pattern on fabric and preventing it from absorbing the dye.
Three types of techniques are commonly used to achieve this effect: Oniko (raffia resist), Alabere (needle resist) and Eleko, (cassava paste resist. Modern day Àdirę also includes tie-dye, wax resist batik techniques and alternative dyes other than indigo.
Fabric size is 4 yards 30in. W174in x H48in.
FABRIC ART
FABRIC ART
Natural variation is a part of the hand-crafted process as each item goes through an individual dyeing process.
Due to the different shooting light, angle and monitor contrast, there may be some color variations between the actual product and the photographs.
The measurements indicated are standard measurements. If there are slight deviations (within 3-5inches), they are considered normal.
Hand-dyed in Accra, Ghana.
